DESCRIPTION:SOLAR AFRICA – Tanzania is a premier international trade exhibition targeting the East African solar market. The event is the only business networking trade fair that is dedicated to promoting products and services in the solar sector. The exhibition offers tremendous opportunities to suppliers worldwide\, generating the strongest leads within the solar market in the East African Region. \nSolar energy is one of the most abundant and accessible renewable energy sources in Tanzania\, with an average solar radiation of 4-7 kWh/m2/day. Solar energy can be used for various applications\, such as lighting\, heating\, cooling\, pumping\, cooking\, and generating electricity. Solar energy can also provide clean and affordable energy access to rural and remote areas that are not connected to the national grid. \nThe government of Tanzania has enacted several policies and initiatives to promote the development and deployment of solar energy in the country. The private sector has played a key role in driving the growth and innovation of solar energy in Tanzania. Several local and international companies have invested in solar projects\, products\, and services for residential\, commercial\, industrial\, and institutional customers. These include solar home systems\, solar lanterns\, solar water heaters\, solar water pumps\, solar refrigerators\, solar dryers\, solar cookers\, solar street lights\, solar mini-grids\, and grid-connected solar power plants. The development and deployment of solar energy in Tanzania has been supported by various financing mechanisms and partnerships involving public and private actors.

DESCRIPTION:SDG7 can and must still be achieved. Energy is an essential ingredient for getting the world on track towards meeting the SDGs and the objectives of the Paris Agreement on climate change. \nThe ENERGYNOW SDG7 Action Forum 2024 will support these efforts by providing a platform to connect all stakeholder groups\, including decision makers and practitioners\, in support of driving momentum and mobilizing action. The Forum will showcase Energy Compacts\, present success stories and best practices\, and strengthen multistakeholder dialogue in support of accelerated SDG7 action. It will explore concrete ways to accelerate just\, inclusive\, and equitable energy transition towards net zero\, building on the outcomes of UNFCCC COP28. \n \nThis year’s edition of the SDG7 Action Forum will be an in-person meeting. Online participation will be made available in a limited manner.
